Ideally your process is correct, once you receive the file some times there may be leading zeros's in the file and SAP wont allow you to upload, in that case with the help of ABAPER yu need to pick the file from AL11, then remove the leading zeros form the file, then you need to consider this file for upload in FF_5 through the program.

Apart from that your process seems good, test the same in test system first then implement the same in production.
